Chest Pain



A part from this,one of the important aspect to pay attention is the mode of onset of the pain;sudden or develops  gradually ..This is when it bother us,delaying our hospital visit.So have an idea about it.

WITHIN SECONDS:
-massive pulmonary embolism ( sudden blockage in a lung artery. The cause is usually a blood clot in the leg called deep vein thrombosis,pay attention if you had calf muscle pain in the past)
-pneumothorax
( collection of free air in the chest cavity that causes the lung to collapse)

WITHIN MINUTES OR EVEN LONGER
-heart attack
GRADUALLY DEVELOP
-angina (chest pain or discomfort that occurs when your heart muscle doesn't get enough oxygen rich blood)

ASSOCIATED WITH BREATHLESSNESS, SWEATING, NAUSEA,VOMITING
-Pulmonary embolism -heart attack
WITH PALPITATIONS -maybe sudden heart attack
WITH HAEMOPTYSIS( coughing of blood)
-Pulmonary embolism with infarction -lung tumor

WITH FEVER
-pneumonia -pleurisy(two membranes that envelops the lung and the inner chest wall get inflamed) -pericarditis (lining sac around your heart get inflamed)
